I have been lucky enough and blessed to achieve senior positions within Human Resources & Organizational Development for the last 30 years for American corporations throughout Latin America in manufacturing, high-tech, multimedia, education, and consumer-facing industry niches, from start-up to complex global corporations.
During those years I have become an expert on developing Human Resources assessments and it’s co-relations to other areas of the organization to determine strengths, areas of improvement, and potential risks, therefore being able to develop actionable strategies that contribute to streamlining financial growth.
From reorganizing a production line to CRM implementations and from mentoring entry level positions to members of the board, my passion has been fueled from helping others to achieve their dreams.
I had many supervisors and managers, but not that many mentors in my career. The ones that I will always remember all had something in common, they were great at inspiring with their leadership, were very smart to put teams together that work towards the same goals and were awesome at managing conflicts in a productive way. At some point they shared words of wisdom that are still guiding me:
I have four brothers (Beto, Eddy, Manny & Willy) and one sister (Tere). We were born and raised in Mexico City by the best Mom and Dad we could have asked for. My father had a fishing fleet and spent most of his life as a fish and seafood wholesaler until he retired. After that, he devoted himself to antique car restoration and was frequently published in automotive magazines until he passed away in 2013. My mom has been a teacher all her life and loves interior design and handcrafts. She is a devoted extraordinary minister of the Catholic Church. My family now spreads all the way from Chicago, Illinois, to Ushuaia, Argentina, in the Antarctic territories (the southernmost city of the American continent).
I have been happily married to Monica for the last 25 years, and we have a wonderful son, Cesar, who is an “A-class” student. He graduated high school with summa cum laude honors and enjoys playing the tuba and the sousaphone. He loves marching band and is attending Texas Tech University to earn his degree in business management and energy commerce. The three of us have partnerships in different projects, and it is an incredible experience to be family, entrepreneurs, and associates.
As for professional studies, I am a certified ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher and graduated from Universidad del Tepeyac with a BA in Business Administration with a major in Human Resources. I also graduated from INESPO with a master’s in organizational development. Most recently, I completed studies in artificial intelligence at Johns Hopkins University, Whiting School of Engineering. Besides Spanish, I am fluent in English and conversational Portuguese.
I started by owning a business, then went to work for corporations, and then back to being a business owner. I have been successful in business and as an employee, and I have also had some failures, but above all, I have always been myself!
I always had the idea of becoming a lecturer or professor at a university. For a time, I was committed to this path, but everything changed in 2020 when the pandemic began.
For many of us, our lives came to a sudden stop, and while we reconfigured as a society, many daily activities were reshaped from what they traditionally were. Kids studying from home, employees forced to work from home, and first responders became the center stage of survival efforts; meanwhile, traditional retail and the hospitality industry came to a halt, resulting in many jobs lost and companies closed.
While all this was happening, my commitment to helping others strengthened, but without a clear idea of how to do it, I had to explore new ideas and technologies to achieve my dream.
Today, I can assure you that The Skillful Manager Academy, NextGen Leadership and most recently The ColaborAItion Initiative are the result of a lifetime dream, forced to a halt by crisis to be forged into new technologies to accomplish one purpose: help others to Think, Act, Grow, and Teach “Out the Box.”
When you put Heart, Soul and Mind into something, a lot of really good things happen.
